Mediating God’s Care for the Orphan

If orphan care is what happens when people believe the gospel, an organized ministry of orphan care is what happens when the people of God combine their resources, their time and their energy for the sake of the orphan.

The orphan is close to the heart of God, so the orphan is close to the heart of the people of God. He does not forget the cry of the afflicted, and neither does his church. As God hates injustice and oppression, so we abhor these evils with him. As an expression of faith in the gospel, orphan care is a manifestation of gospel life.

For this reason, Rosalynn’s Hope is organized to stimulate and facilitate the defense and reception of many, many orphans among the people of God at Ninth and O Baptist Church.

Rosalynn’s Hope is the tangible expression of our faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ, fulfilling God’s call for his people to practice true religion; “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world” (James 1:27).

The shape of this ministry is directed by the specific afflictions that orphans suffer. Some orphans are those unborn children of mothers and fathers who have decided to terminate their life. These children are abandoned in every sense of the word. Others, through various sad and tragic circumstances, are without a mother or a father either willing or able to care for them.

Into these afflictions, the church responds by defending unborn life and receiving the parentless into our homes as our own children through foster care and adoption.
